I have been ministering to kids for over thirty years now and without a doubt my favorite memories are those services where the Holy Spirit touched kids in a powerful way.
One of my powerful moments was the summer of 1996.
I was the guest speaker at a Kids Camp in Fergus Falls, MN. I was sitting behind the puppet stage during worship time waiting for the host to introduce me. The worship team was all teenagers and they were singing the song, Shout to the Lord, which had just come out.
I couldn’t see anything except the curtains of the puppet stage but I sensed the presence of the Holy Spirit in a powerful way. I peeked my head out from behind the puppet stage and saw I sight I will never forget.
Every single child and every counselor were worshipping Jesus passionately. Tears began to stream down my face as I watched these children.
I had never seen children worship like this and yet the scripture makes it clear that this is the plan of God for our kids.
‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour my spirit on all flesh’
Notice the scripture doesn’t say all flesh over twelve.
And then just to make sure we get it He says, ‘your sons and daughters will prophesy’
Think about it for a minute.
Not only does the Holy Spirit want to touch our kids, He wants to speak through our kids.
I am always amazed when people put age limits on things that kids can do at church. Churches may limit what kids but the Holy Spirit does not.
My question for you is this, Are you limiting your kids?
I know that you love your kids and you enjoy teaching them but are you willing to let your kids teach you?
You are the doorway for the Holy Spirit in your classroom.
The Holy Spirit desires to minister to through your kids but it’s not going to happen if you don’t believe it. And it’s not going to happen if you don’t teach on the Holy Spirit.
This is why I wrote an entire curriculum on the Holy Spirit.
There are spiritual gifts inside your kids just like there was inside of young David. Jesse did not see the gift of God in David, but Samuel did.
Do you want to be a Jesse or do you want to a Samuel?
