John Wesley once made the following statement.
“I have come to see that many in the church do not really have faith because if they had real faith it would change their life”
What Wesley was saying was that many go through the motions of being a Christian – they attend church and listen to the preacher – but they don’t really have faith.
To be transparent, I think a lot of our Kids Ministry programs promote a pretend kind of faith. We don’t mean to do it, but that is what happens much of the time.
Think about the kids that you teach.
Do your kids have real faith or pretend faith?
Admittedly, faith is a difficult thing to measure because you can’t see it. You can’t see faith but you can see the results of faith, just like you can’t see the wind but you can see the results of a wind-storm.
Kids can be great actors – especially the good ones. They can learn the right things to say and do to please their parents and their teachers but that isn’t faith.
Of course I can’t control what I child believes but I can control what I teach.
My point is that we should do more teaching on faith and less teaching on moral behavior.
Think about it. Every sin is an act of unbelief. If I really believed that Jesus was right there with me all the time I would behave differently.
I want my kids to obey, but I want their obedience to spring from a genuine faith in God. .
This is why we at SuperChurch.com have produced an entire 12-week series on the subject of Faith.

Jackie Swanson –
The Faith curriculum is absolutely amazing! My favorite part is the solid Word in every lesson. Even though I study it all myself before teaching, I know I can trust what you are putting out, you know? In fact, the kids and I were able to use some of the object lessons and scriptures to preach about faith in the main service. It really clicked for some of the adults!
