Christmas is right around the corner. I love this time of year. It truly is the “Most Wonderful Time of the Year!”
On the other hand, the real reason we celebrate Christmas can get lost in the hustle and bustle to get the best gifts and have the best decorated Christmas Tree.
Our focus can easily be turned to, “What do I get.” Instead of, “What do I give.”
It is important we teach our children that Christmas is about giving – not getting. Father God, gave His only Son to us.
One way I have taught kids to have an attitude of giving is to have them imagine it is their birthday and a friend planned a birthday party for them.
Lots of people are invited to the party and having a great time, but no one is talking to the Birthday kid. When it’s time to open the birthday gifts, all of the friends exchange gifts with one another, but no one gives the Birthday child a gift to open.
It’s hard to imagine a birthday party like this, but it happens every year on December 25th. We say that Christmas is the day that we celebrate Jesus’ birth, but then we ignore Him.
Have you ever asked your kids the question, “What does Jesus want for Christmas?”
What do you buy for God? He owns the universe. The streets in Heaven are paved with gold, what could Jesus possibly want for Christmas?
There is really only one thing that Jesus wants for Christmas. Jesus wants us. He wants you and He wants me.
This is a great lesson to teach kids and that is why I have written the Christmas Curriculum, “Happy Birthday Jesus.”
“Happy Birthday Jesus” is four weeks of fun filled, power packed lessons teaching kids what Jesus wants for Christmas and how we can give Him what He wants. I have some great news. It is only $49.
