Becoming an effective team member.
Are you serving in KidMin?
Maybe you have been at it awhile maybe you are just getting started.
Either way – there are things that YOU can do that will ADD to the ministry at your church this weekend.
As a team member, remember that you are not serving a man, an organization or a church.
You are serving the Father God. You are Team Jesus!
“Whatsoever ye do, work heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men;” Colossians 3:23
I have six tips that will help you become a stronger team member!
TIP ONE: Listen to your heart. God will lead, guide and direct you. He has a plan with you in mind. Only accept the responsibility if you have interest. Do not accept any role because of pressure. Think about your capabilities, specializations and interests and how they can benefit the team.
“I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.” Jeremiah 29:11
TIP TWO: Be a good communicator. Once you join a team, learn to be a good communicator. Others are depending on you. Emergencies may come up at the last minute and it is vital that you communicate if you are unable to be at a scheduled service or event.
TIP THREE: Don’t cause your leader to panic – be on time. If you have a team meeting at 10 am, make sure you are there at 9.45 am. Avoid getting late to your scheduled service.
My Kinder Church team members needed to be at church at 10:15am for the 11am service. (Doors opened at 10:30 am.) We had our Team Huddle at 10:15am. At 10:20am I would check my schedule. At 10:25am I would begin to panic.
Even if you are late, because the roads were messy, stop by your class and wave at your team leader. Then take your baby to their class. This will let your leader know you are in the building.
TIP FOUR: Add your two cents. Prepare for your scheduled service. Even if you are serving at the check-in window, know that the lesson is about. Don’t just coast. Every piece of the puzzle is needed and plays a vital role in the whole picture.
TIP FIVE: Look in the mirror before you leave home. You don’t have to wear a suit and tie or dress and heels, but look neat in your appearance. You are part of a great team and you are representing that team to each parent that checks in their child to your class.
TIP SIX: Take one more step. Don’t do just what is on your list for the service, take one more step. Go beyond what is expected. Put the drama clothes away. Sweep the floor. Sanitize the toys. Remember you are not serving a man you are serving Father God.
As a team member how can you add to the team? What can you change to increase your effectiveness?
Amen to all these!! I will print out for my team. Thanks! Debra:)
