When tackling projects, are you the type of person who will figure it out (no matter how long it takes, get what you need (no matter what the cost), and definitely Do-It-Yourself?
In other words, do you love DIY projects?
If you do, that is great, but when it comes to your kid’s ministry if you are a “Do-It-Yourself-er,” you are not making disciples.
The heart of a pastor is discipleship.
- A pastor gives people an opportunity to do things.
- A children’s pastor gives kids an opportunity to do things.
When it comes to kid’s ministry, many times people think:
- I don’t have the time.
- I don’t have the resources.
- I don’t have the ability.
Statistics say, that 20% of the people in our churches do 80% of the work. Why is that?
Maybe, because we tell them when they are children that they can’t do anything for the Lord and they continue to believe that when they become adults.
You can make the time, you are resourceful and you have the ability, because God has placed you where you are at, He has called you, and He is faithful.
Ephesians 2:10, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Here is one thing I have seen, people that get involved in church stay in church. People that do not get involved in church, may hang around for awhile, but will eventually leave.
Over the past thirty years Debbie and I have trained hundreds of kids in ministry.
Many of them are in full time ministry or influential positions today. We didn’t just teach them how to sing or act.
We taught them about leadership.
Here are some examples:
- Monica was eleven when she started leading worship in Super Church. Today Monica is 35 and she sings in the sanctuary.
- Krista and Ginger teach in Christian schools.
- Max is a Police Officer serving in our community.
- Jacob is president of an International production company and has been a strong leader when serving in kids ministry.
- Kelly and her husband are now pastors of their own church.
All of them started in ministry at 9 or 10 years old. They were on the Ministry Team, the Worship Team or AV Team and they are leading others, in ministry and using their influence in a positive way.
We recently took these same lessons on leadership and put them into print so you can teach them to your kids – Super Church 2.0 Leadership.
I want to give you a heads up. One benefit you will see by teaching Super Church 2.0 Leadership is that your adult volunteers will become better leaders.
